Jo is the sensible one of the partnership, also Mistress of the purse strings. If it was up to me, we'd be broke in a week. An extremely intelligent woman, who delights in her job at the LSC and excels in it to the manor born. A very able person when it comes to computer software, using it and understanding it, though I'm the one who takes them apart and rebuilds them. Jo feels enabled by being able to help others through her work and feels so happy to be able to, in her words, "be productive, and to be able to contribute."
Jo has a friendly and welcoming smile for everyone, even though some don't deserve such niceness. Jo is always willing to put herself out to people, even to those she barely knows. A devout Christian, she is always ready to listen to an opposing argument, she doesn't preach to others, merely lets her beliefs become known. A valued member of the Dorset Gardens Methodist Church, and the Brightwaves MCC congregations in Brighton, both of which are fully inclusive churches and have made Jo welcome in their midst.
Jo is profoundly deaf, and has had to battle hard against her disability and the bias of others. She was the first Deaf person to graduate from Sussex University, (BSc with honours). To me, that says it all, having to persevere against the attitude of some of the tutors, relying on friends to fill her in on stuff she had missed and so on. I personally think that had she been born as a hearing person, she would have gone on to some sort of national acclaim.
Dealing with her Gender through her childhood and through University also did her considerable harm but she is now happy with who she is and with where she is, but is still reaching out to do more. I am continually amazed by her enthusiasm, her courage and her optimism. I love her very much.
By the way, She can't drive for
toffee!

Angie is, as ever, singing my
praises overmuch
She's a loving woman, and has had her own gender issues to deal with - we are a fairly unusual couple in that we are both transsexual women in a lesbian civil partnership (there are other such trans couples, of course).
It does mean that we both understand where each other is coming from, and this helps us to continue our journey through life together.
We come from so
very different backgrounds. I’m Christian, Angie’s Pagan; I was born in Leeds
and she in London (she still teases me about my northern accent), but I truly
feel that these differences help us, rather than set us apart, because we are
continually discovering new things together and becoming stronger because of it.
Our skills do complement each other -
and yes, she does drive (much) better than me!
